Permeable Pavers
Permeable pavers (or permeable interlocking concrete pavement) provide a solid ground surface, strong enough to take heavy loads, like large vehicles, while allowing water to filter through the surface and reach the underlying soils. In other words, a permeable paver system is a self-draining system. The voids created by the joints between pavers allow water to drain through and into the soil beneath.

Permeable pavers can help preserve our environment by protecting the quality of our water supplies. Water is allowed to drain naturally into the surface through the voids in the permeable pavers. This infiltration of rainwater helps to recharge the groundwater and reduces the amount of stormwater runoff entering our natural waterways, and the contaminants and pollutants carried with it. Less stormwater runoff means less flooding of streams and riverbeds and a reduction in the rate of the erosion of riverbanks and streambeds.

Guidelines and regulations are being created every day that will make permeable pavers a standard in the paving and green industries.

“Permeable interlocking concrete pavements are a logical choice for effective stormwater management.  High quality interlocking concrete pavers provide a hard and durable surface not subject to surface abrasion and raveling while effectively transferring surface water to the underlying open graded aggregate which provides storage and filtering capabilities."
